One Lucky Scout Gets to Test Drive the Beast

Now that the scouts have one billy cart Allen is working on his second, updated model which he promises will be more streamlined and of course much faster. We understand he has even hired a wind tunnel to test his latest model!

King of the Kids

Allen was present at the Tumbi Umbi Scout group to see his latest billy cart presented. All the boys had to have a try and by the time Allen had left there had been no serious injuries.

Another Shadow Board Complete

The Shed set up continues and Graham proudly displays the shadow board he made to accommodate the wood lathe equipment.

Is Nigel Upset?

Barrie is trying to dictate a submission to Nigel but it appears Kevin keeps interrupting. There's always someone in the typing pool who spends all their time gossiping. Not Nigel though, as he is very task oriented and just wants to get on with his work. Barrie in the mean time is always very patient and just waits until the little spat is over.

The Typing Pool Is Alive & Well

The friendly, expert & handsome staff of the newly established Bateau Bay Men's Shed typing pool are waiting and ready to accept your orders. Kevin & Nigel won the contest to see who would become the faces of the Shed and promote our activities (doesn't say much for the other entrants)
Please call soon as they can't stay in those positions posing for much longer.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Welcome back men! The Shed is open for business again and already we have welcomed 2 new members on our first day of 2010.
It was a busy first day with the installation of 3 large fans in the workshops and a ceiling fan in the morning tea room.
One of our first projects this year is to install the dust extraction system. To say it will not be a hit and miss project can be put into perspective when one of our members who specialises in installing dust extraction systems and the moving of air in industrial situations phoned the manufacturers of our machines in China to obtain air flow data. Mike has digitised the machine and workshop layout to make his job of designing our dust extraction more professional.

When we are finished we should be able to eat off the floor!
One of our members Allen Booth would still love to race Billy Carts but feels at his age has troubles regaining his racing licence. So Tumbi Umbi cub scouts have a new play thing to enjoy and are very happy with their new direct steering non computerised toy.

Well done Allen, whats your next project?
